Community Support for Families Program (CSF)
This is a Department of Children and Families (DCF) contracted program. KIDSAFE CT is a subcontractor with The Village for Families & Children being the primary for DCF. This program is a voluntary, family driven program designed to assist families in strengthening natural and community support systems to maintain safe and healthy home environments. The CSF program utilizes care coordination as a tool for empowering and encouraging families to identify their needs and take the lead role in the development plan of care. CSF works with families over a span of four to six months. CSF assists families with areas of need including child development, parenting skills, employment, housing, family-school relationships, and other basic needs. The program includes three KIDAFE CT staff “Parent Navigators” and nine Village staff “Community Support Workers”. CSF covers all of DCF Region 4, which is comprised of both Hartford and Tolland counties. Staff also attends trainings and are credentialed or certified in CPR for Adult/Infant and First Aid and various curriculums, including Mental Health First Aid, Family Development Credential, Access Benefits On-line, Ages and Stages, and Intimate Partner Dating Violence. Through Community Support for Families, families gain community resources, life skills, and independence. (Note: this program is through DCF referral only).
